COMPASSION BIBLE INSTITUTE Home Bible Study Course HISTORY: Compassion Bible Institute was begun by Rev. W. V. Grant Sr. over 50 years ago in 1952. The Faith Clinic Bible Course, as it was called at that time, consisted of just one 16 month-course. The cost was just for the books. In that early course, there were 64 textbooks and they sold for .50 cents each. As the years went by, Rev. Grant, Sr. wrote more books than any man who ever lived, 607 titles. His son, Rev. W. V. Grant, Jr., also became a prolific writer, and this one course was expanded to several, covering virtually every subject in the Holy Bible: Salvation, Divine Healing, The Holy Spirit, The Gifts of the Spirit, Water Baptism, Soul-Winning, etc. Now, it has evolved into one of the best-loved, and most-basic and simplistic Home Study Bible Courses available anywhere. It has incorporated such contemporary subjects as Flying Saucers, Heart Transplants, Demonology, Eschatology, as well as dealing with popular, and much-asked-about subjects, such as homosexuality, abortion, and virtually every problem in marriage and family relationships. Uniquely, every word is backed up by the Holy Bible, with virtually no personal opinion given, and chapter and verse references to the King James Version given on every page. And purposefully, every book has been written and re-written to simplify the language so that every sentence can be readily understood by anyone with as little as a grade school education. COST: The cost of ALL of Compassion Bible Institute's Courses have been kept as low as possible. Although the inevitable rise of printing costs over the years have been reflected, still the cost of each course is only for the textbooks which are $2.00 each. All other costs (the exam sheets, secretarial expense, C.B.I.'s postage to you, grading, certificates and diplomas) are all free of charge. All you ever pay for are the text books. Each of our Bible Courses have 52 textbooks. (You read one per week for 52 weeks), so your total cost is $104. You pay $8.00 when you sign up. Then...all of the 52 books are sent to you, postpaid, at once. (We trust you). Then. You simply send $8.00 each month for 12 months as you mail your monthly examination sheet to be graded. There are no hidden charges, just your 52 books at $2. each (total $104) Over the years, printing costs have risen. Only then, has the small cost of the Bible Courses gone slightly up...from $.50 cents per book in the 50's and 60's, to $1.00 Per book in the 70's and 80's, to the current $2. Per book. So, please disregard any old prices you may see in the advertisements inside your textbooks. We anticipate keeping the current $2. Per-book-cost well into the next millennium. LENGTH OF COURSES: Each of our Home Study Courses lasts for 12 months. You receive 52 textbooks. You will read one each week for 52 weeks. Then, once each month, you simply fill out the true and false exam sheets for the four books you have read, and mail them into P.O. Box 353 Dallas, Texas 75221, along with your $8.00 C.B.I. will immediately grade your exam sheet and mail it back to you. Originally, back in the 50's through the 70's, each of the Bible Courses lasted 16 months each, but as they were improved and revised, we settled on the much more understandable 52 week format. CERTIFICATES, CERTIFICATIONS and DIPLOMAS: When you finish your first years Bible Course, you may apply to be certified as an EXHORTER/MINISTER. This is free and you will be sent a beautiful certificate and Exhorter/Minister Card to carry in your wallet that should admit you to hospitals and rest homes. Should you continue and complete our second-year Bible Course, you may apply to become a certified LICENSED MINISTER. You will be fully-accredited and licensed with Compassion International Association, (C.I.A.), an officially-recognized church organization. You will be eligible to receive your LICENSE TO PREACH certificate and license card that will afford you all the privileges and admittances that all licensed ministers enjoy. Then...if you desire to continue, you may take Compassion Bible Institute's 3rd Advanced Bible Course, again at the same price--free, except for the $2. Price of each of the 52 textbooks. When you finish this powerful Home Study Course, you will be qualified to apply to become an ORDAINED MINISTER. At this time, you may receive your purple and gold ORDINATION CERTIFICATE, and Ordination Card. This, again, is free, although there is customary $20 yearly dues to renew every year (and keep your credentials current). As a LICENSED or ORDAINED C.I.A. MINISTER, you are (1) entitled to be listed in our annual Minister's Roster, complete with your Address, Telephone Number, Fax Number, and E- Mail address, (2) have a yearly invitation to attend our annual 10-day convention, held in Dallas Texas, beginning on the first Friday of every June, and (3) qualify for our recommendation to any pastor you are invited, or led, to minister for. At this point, you will be eligible to participate in C.B.I's Master Minister's Home Study Bible Course. This fourth-year Specialized Study is a verse-by-verse study of the Book of Acts, and the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, and entitles you to receive C.B.I.'s unique Masters Degree in the Operation of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. At the completion of each Home Study Bible Course, if you choose, we will mail your credentials to your home, or if you desire, you may be presented your Diploma and Credentials, during our annual convention in a special ceremony in front of the audience, the attending anointed ministers and cameras. WHERE DO I START: When you receive your examination sheets. Begin by reading the first four books--the ones shown on Examination Number 1. Then, at the end of the month, when you have read the first four books, simply fill out the True and False Questions, and mail it in with your $8. For that month's 4 books. We will prayerfully grade and get it back to you very soon with our comments on your progress. Then...immediately start on your next four faith books.
